Research can be overwhelming. With thousands of papers, countless ideas, and endless rabbit holes, it’s easy to lose track. ResearchRabbit was built to make that journey smoother, smarter, and (dare we say it?) fun!
This October, we’ve rolled out our biggest update yet. Thanks to our partnership with Litmaps, ResearchRabbit is now faster, more flexible, and more powerful than ever before.
Why this release matters
This new release marks a leap forward for how you explore and grow your research landscape.
When was it released?
The update rolled out on October 20, 2025 (EST).
Why now?
You told us what you needed: smarter searches, a bigger database, and workflows that save time. We listened. This new version is designed to help you do your literature review as productively and smoothly as possible.
What stays the same
Don’t worry, your favorite ResearchRabbit features aren’t going anywhere.
Your data, including your collections and saved articles are safe and right as you left them.
You can still:
Explore similar work, earlier work, and later work around any paper.
Visualize networks of research and authors.
Organize your discoveries into collections.
Free access remains. The free tier isn’t going anywhere!
Everything you already rely on is still here, just transformed to help you work even better. Plus, there are many new exciting features to explore!
What’s new in this release
Here’s where things get exciting. This new version of ResearchRabbit features key changes to the core exploring process to provide powerful new functionality and an intuitive new flow.
🔎 Smarter, faster searching
Click the new search bar to immediately start searching by keyword, topic or paper.
Instantly see a list of relevant articles.
Select one or more articles using the checkboxes, then start a brand-new search. This immediately jumps you into searching for "Similar Work" based on those starting paper(s).
That's it! The same process as before. Just easier.
🔄 Iterative searching
Exploration doesn’t stop after one search. Now you can:
Review your recommended articles.
Save or check the ones you like, to add them to your search.
Expand again, discovering even more relevant work.
This iterative process means you can build deeper searches without starting from scratch. This is crucial to honing on the most relevant literature on your topic.
📚 Search from any set of articles
Before, searches were tied only to collections. That’s no longer the case.
You can now easily combine articles from across different collections.
Start a search on any set of papers, chosen freely.
Collections are still useful for organizing, but search and collections are now decoupled.
This makes your workflow more flexible, powerful, and aligned with how real research happens.
📖 Expanded database
Thanks to our partnership with Litmaps, millions of new articles have been added. Your searches now go deeper, wider, and more global than ever before. Our new database has over 280 million academic sources, based on our 3 source database providers (SemanticScholar, Crossref, and OpenAlex).

📝 Built-in note-taking
Keep your ideas, questions, and insights right next to your papers. No more juggling multiple tools.
🚀 Premium Tier
For those who want to supercharge their workflow, we now have RR+, a premium tier which offers:
More advanced searches.
Deeper connections between papers.
Country-based pricing (so it’s fair and accessible worldwide).
The free tier remains unchanged. Premium is just an extra layer of power for those who want it.
