Never miss a new paper on your topic. Project Alerts keep an eye on your library and let you know when new research builds on it.
Turn on Project Alerts and ResearchRabbit will send you newly published papers that cite the papers in your project, weekly or monthly.
Project Alerts are part of RR+.
How do Project Alerts work?
ResearchRabbit looks for new papers that cite the papers in your library, or in the collections you choose. Papers that cite more of your papers rank higher, so the most relevant ones sit at the top of each alert.
Alerts are personal. If you share a project, everyone sets up their own alerts and gets their own results.
How do I set up Project Alerts?
Click your profile icon in the top right.
Click Project Alerts.
Switch on the toggle next to your project name.
Choose your Delivery, Frequency and Watch settings.
You can also get there from your Library. Click Alerts, then Open Alert Settings.
Your settings save as you go. Your first alert arrives within a day, and covers the last week or month depending on your frequency.
What do the settings mean?
Setting | Options | What it does |
Delivery | Email, In ResearchRabbit | Email sends alerts to your inbox as well as your Alerts list. In ResearchRabbit keeps them in your Alerts list only. |
Frequency | Weekly, Monthly | How often you get alerts |
Watch | Whole Library, Specific Collections | Which of your papers ResearchRabbit uses to find new research |
Should I watch my whole library or specific collections?
Whole Library: best if your project is all about one topic.
Specific Collections: best if your library covers a few areas and you only want alerts for some of them.
To watch specific collections:
Set Watch to Specific Collections.
Click Add Collection.
Click the circle next to each collection you want to watch. Type in Find Collection... to search if you have lots.
You can pick any of your collections, including the ones in your Zotero Sync section.
💡 Tip: Watching a collection doesn't include the collections inside it. If you want alerts for a subcollection too, pick it as well.
Where do I find my alerts?
In ResearchRabbit: open your Library and click Alerts at the top of the left-hand menu. Every alert lands here, whichever delivery option you choose. Use Select alert period... in the top right to look back at earlier alerts.
By email: you'll get an email called New articles for "your project name" with the top 10 papers. Click through to see the full list in ResearchRabbit.
If there's nothing new that week or month, we won't email you.
From your alerts, save the papers you like to a collection, or use them as Seeds for a new search.
Can I have alerts for more than one project?
Yes. Alerts are set for each project. Switch project using the dropdown at the top of the page, then set up Project Alerts for that one too.
How do I change or turn off my alerts?
Click your profile icon, then Project Alerts. Change any setting, or switch off the toggle next to your project name. You can also click Manage preferences in any alert email.
Your past alerts stay in your Alerts list. If you switch alerts back on later, your next alert catches you up on everything you missed.
