Paperpile is a widely used reference manager for collecting and organizing research papers. If you already have papers saved in Paperpile, you can easily bring them into ResearchRabbit to explore related research, discover new papers, and expand your literature search.

You can import your papers by exporting them as a BibTeX file and uploading it into ResearchRabbit.

Step 1: Export your papers from Paperpile

First, you’ll need to export the papers you want from your Paperpile library.

In Paperpile:

  • Select the papers you want to export (or select a folder or label)

  • Click More

  • Click the the Export button

  • Choose BibTeX as the export format

  • Save the file to your computer

You can export individual papers, selected sets, or entire folders depending on what you want to bring into ResearchRabbit.

Step 2: Import the BibTeX file into ResearchRabbit

Once you’ve exported your BibTeX file, you can import it into ResearchRabbit.

To do this:

  • Go to your Library page in ResearchRabbit

  • Choose the BibTeX option in the bottom left

  • Upload the .bib file you exported from Paperpile

  • Select the collection where you want the papers to be added

ResearchRabbit will read the file and add the papers to your library.

Step 3: Start exploring your papers

After importing your papers, you can immediately use them to explore related research in ResearchRabbit.

From your imported papers, you can:

  • Discover similar papers

  • Find earlier foundational work

  • See newer papers that cite them

  • Explore authors and topic clusters

This turns your existing Paperpile library into a starting point for discovering new literature.

The BibTeX import works as a one-way transfer from Paperpile into ResearchRabbit. If you later want to save papers you discover in ResearchRabbit back into Paperpile, you can export them from ResearchRabbit and import the BibTeX file into Paperpile.
